Imagine Dragon's website textual analysis

To prepare for creating my own band website I need to research what makes a good band website, to do this I am going to analyse some existing band websites to see what common features they have. First I am going to analyse Imagine Dragons website.

This is the first thing you see when you enter Imagine Dragons website. Straight away it is obvious the website has a set colour scheme of mainly turquoise and white. Two fonts can be seen as well which gives it a professional, clean look because too many fonts can look messy and unorganised. When you scroll down the homepage the first thing you see is the official merch, I think this is key because one of the main reasons people go to band websites nowadays is to look at merch. They no longer need to go to the band's website to access their music because of platforms such as youtube and spotify.

On the bar at the top of the homepage underneath the band name you can see the social media icons on the left side, however they seem a bit small and could easily be missed by the viewer. On the right side there is a log in button, this adds a personal element to the website because it creates a community for the fans. It makes them feel like they are part of something. For my website I want to have a social media bar that is easily visible for the viewer, to do this I might have black icons on a white background. Rather than white icons on a coloured background.

At the bottom of the homepage you can subscribe to a mailing list to be updated on the band and their label. I might do something similar to this on my website and have a subscription service at the bottom of my homepage.

On the website they have a page for the lyrics of their songs, this seems unnecessary because there are plenty of lyric sites out there already.

The website is directly linked to their Instagram. This seems unnecessary because fans aren't going to go to their website to view their social media pages, they can do that on Instagram or twitter separately, or using the social media icons in the top left of the page.
