dodie's website textual analysis

This is the website for the artist 'dodie', she is an English indie pop artist.

The majority of her colour scheme for the website is grey scale, making the yellow sunflowers stand out. The front page of her website is alternated between a light grey and dark grey background, which looks like pages or sections. I like the idea of splitting the front page into sections and may do something similar on my website. I like how it puts everything in one place rather than having a website with multiple different pages on a menu at the top. Her social media links can be seen clearly by the icons in the top right corner. Next to those icons is a menu for easy navigation if the viewer doesn't want to scroll through everything on the page. In the top left corner there is a link to join the mailing list, rather than having a button at the bottom of the page like most websites.

First you see her latest music video. This allows people who don't know who she is to learn more about her and hear her music straight away.

Then you see her shop containing her music and merchandise.

Finally you see her tour dates.

I like this layout because these are three key elements that a fan would go to an artists's website for. The music video introduces the artist, the merchandise that fans would want to buy to support the artist and then the tour which fans would want to go to if they like their music. The website doesn't have a cluttered or busy appearance which prevents it from becoming overwhelming to view.
