Audio-visual content for my website

Image
The brief states that the website must have original audio-visual content. For this I created a one minute music video to show a sneak preview of the band's next music video and show a snippet of one of the songs on their upcoming album. Here is the one minute music video:

Logos

Image
One way I have created digital convergence between my music video and website is the use of my band's logo.  Here it is below: This logo can be seen at the start of my music video and at the top of my website. This repetition of the band's logo is important so that it becomes recognisable to the audience. I have also used this same font for the titles on my website to keep the continuity. As you can see in the screenshot above I also created a logo for the company that has signed the band 'Universal music', this helps to show that I carefully read and followed the brief, and if this was a real band then having the record labels logo would help their company also become recognisable and acknowledged by the audience. I also chose to use this font because it goes with the glitchy/disorientated aesthetic I have created in my music video and website.

My band website

This is the final website for my band Static Energy, one issue I have found with creating a website is how different the website can look on different screen resolutions. The screenshots below show how I intended the website to look: https://12buskis.wixsite.com/staicenergyband

Character profiles

Image
My music video will have four characters, not including the artist. Here are some short descriptions of these characters explaining the choice of clothing and their personalities. The Artist (Isabel) The artist is seen wearing a yellow jumper in the music video. I chose the colour yellow because this colour is associated with happiness and positivity. The artist was once the girl in the narrative so this shows that the artist is happy now and is looking back on what happened unaffected by it. Tom and Sarah In terms of costume Tom is seen to wear grey clothing throughout the music video, next to him Sarah is seen wearing a bright red shirt. This could signify that throughout their relationship Sarah has had a strong amount of love for Tom but Tom has not, and Sarah doesn't realise this until things start to turn sour in the relationship. Red is also a colour associated with love. Tom starts to show his lack of interest and commitment to th...

dodie's website textual analysis

Image
This is the website for the artist 'dodie', she is an English indie pop artist. The majority of her colour scheme for the website is grey scale, making the yellow sunflowers stand out. The front page of her website is alternated between a light grey and dark grey background, which looks like pages or sections. I like the idea of splitting the front page into sections and may do something similar on my website. I like how it puts everything in one place rather than having a website with multiple different pages on a menu at the top. Her social media links can be seen clearly by the icons in the top right corner. Next to those icons is a menu for easy navigation if the viewer doesn't want to scroll through everything on the page. In the top left corner there is a link to join the mailing list, rather than having a button at the bottom of the page like most websites. First you see her latest music video. This allows people who don't know who...

Shot list

To make sure I am prepared for filming my music video I created a shot list detailing each shot I plan to shoot for the different sections of my music video. My music video has a handful of locations including school, the local woods and at home. My music video has four characters Millie, Emily, Sarah and Tom (played by Sam). When writing my shot list I tried to include different types of shots, I tried creating tracking shots with the shoulder mount for the first time. My shot list

Imagine Dragon's website textual analysis

Image
To prepare for creating my own band website I need to research what makes a good band website, to do this I am going to analyse some existing band websites to see what common features they have. First I am going to analyse Imagine Dragons website. This is the first thing you see when you enter Imagine Dragons website. Straight away it is obvious the website has a set colour scheme of mainly turquoise and white. Two fonts can be seen as well which gives it a professional, clean look because too many fonts can look messy and unorganised. When you scroll down the homepage the first thing you see is the official merch, I think this is key because one of the main reasons people go to band websites nowadays is to look at merch. They no longer need to go to the band's website to access their music because of platforms such as youtube and spotify. On the bar at the top of the homepage underneath the band name you can see the social media icons on the left side, h...

Music video inspiration (The 1975 and Ariana Grande)

For my music video I am taking inspiration from two music videos from different artists: The 1975 - Love it if we made it The 1975 are an English band from Manchester that started in 2002. Genres of their music includes indie, pop rock and electropop. I am going to analyse their music video for 'Love it if we made it' from their most recent album released this year. Although this music video has many political references I will be drawing more focus to the stylistic motif of the music video instead. The second half of the video is different in terms of its style and colour scheme and creates a contrast. The colour scheme has a cool tone and has more of a realism approach than the first half of the video. This shot is an intertextual reference to the artist Micheal Jackson and his music video for thriller. This shot appears normal until the glitch at the end with the man wearing pink glasses, I want my music video to appear normal with glitches and disori...

My pitch/initial idea

Image
Before I began to prepare and film for my music video I had to pitch my idea to my media teacher, I made a page of notes to refer to in the 5-10min pitch describing different aspects of the music video. The song 'Wasteland' is in the punk genre so I researched the typical conventions of this genre, my music video is unlikely to have these typical convention that I listed above. The aim of my music video is to show the toxic relationships in someones life, this includes their relationship and friendships at school. These friendships will be at school because my target audience will be 16-25. The music video will be split into two halves and then come together at the end. I will develop a call list to organise when I will be filming over the next few weeks. My band/artist will be called 'Static Energy' to link to the aesthetic that I am going for throughout my coursework.
